Using FTP for Full-Service Customers

The Our-Hometown production team provides individual customer access to our FTP server allowing publisher to upload PDFs directly for processing. In this post we’ll go over the steps for setting up three of the most popular cross-platform FTP clients for access to our production server. Filezilla

Once Filezilla is installed, run for the first time and:

Enter the server address (FTP protocol), username, and password into the site manager as shown below.

Click OK to save the server information. You can now use the Site Manager button/or dropdown menu to connect to the production server.

Once connected you will see your home folder where you can create directories for each edition (right click in the right-hand pane), we recommend using the YYYY-MM-DD format, and upload your PDF files for processing. You can use the local listing on the left, or drag files directly from you computer onto the right-hand pane to upload files.

Upon first run open a new connection by clicking the button highlighted at below.

Enter the protocol, server address, username and password as shown and click Connect.

The panel will update with the directory contents of your home folder on the OHT server

Right-click in the pane to create directories for your editions (we recommend using the format YYY-MM-DD).
Drag and drop files from your computer onto the new directory to upload.
Reconnect to the server by double-clicking the server bookmark in the Bookmarks panel.
