This is more than just a table of contents; it's an interactive tool for managing your content's structure.</p>
<p>Here's how the List View helps in managing blocks:</p>
<p><div style="width: 385px" class="wp-caption alignright"><a  href="https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/List-View-Isolated.png" data-rel="lightbox-gallery-0" data-rl_title="" data-rl_caption="" title=""><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="" src="https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/List-View-Isolated.png" width="375" height="891" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Block List View</p></div></p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Clear Visual Hierarchy:</strong> For complex layouts with nested blocks (like Columns, Groups, or Cover blocks), the List View clearly displays the parent-child relationships, making it easier to understand the structure of your content.</li>
<li><strong>Effortless Navigation:</strong> Instead of scrolling through a long page, you can quickly jump to any block by clicking on its name in the List View. This is especially useful for lengthy posts or pages.</li>
<li><strong>Drag-and-Drop Reordering:</strong> The List View provides a simple and intuitive way to reorder blocks. Just click and drag a block's name in the sidebar to its new position. This can be much easier than using the up/down arrows on the Block Toolbar, especially when moving blocks across larger distances or within nested structures. You can also drag blocks into other container-type blocks, such as moving multiple paragraph blocks into a Grid or Group block allowing you to treat the blocks together and even add styling to the container block itself.</li>
<li><strong>Selecting Blocks with Precision:</strong> Sometimes, selecting a specific nested block directly in the content area can be tricky. The List View allows you to select any block with a single click, ensuring you're working with the intended element.</li>
<li><strong>Quick Actions via the Three Dots:</strong> Hovering over a block's name in the List View reveals three vertical dots (Options). Clicking these dots provides quick access to actions like:
<ul>
<li><strong>Duplicate:</strong> Create an exact copy of the selected block.</li>
<li><strong>Insert Before/After:</strong> Add a new block above or below the selected one.</li>
<li><strong>Remove Block:</strong> Delete the selected block.</li>
<li><strong>Edit as HTML:</strong> Directly modify the HTML of the block.</li>
<li><strong>Group:</strong> Enclose the block within a Group block for unified styling or layout control.</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li><strong>Batch Selection (with Shift or Ctrl/Cmd):</strong> You can select multiple adjacent blocks by holding down the Shift key and clicking on the first and last blocks you want to select. For non-adjacent blocks, use Ctrl (Windows) or Cmd (Mac) while clicking. Once multiple blocks are selected in the List View, you can perform actions like moving or deleting them together.</li>
</ul>
<p>The List View becomes an indispensable tool as your content grows in complexity, offering a structured and efficient way to manage your blocks beyond the immediate visual editor.</p>

<p><!-- wp:list --></p>
<ul class="wp-block-list"><!-- wp:list-item --></p>
<li><strong>Visual/Text Editor Tabs:</strong> These are gone. The Block Editor is inherently a more visual experience, aiming for a "what you see is what you get" (WYSIWYG) approach. For direct HTML editing of a specific block, select the block, click the three vertical dots (Options) in the Block Toolbar, and choose "Edit as HTML."</li>
<p><!-- /wp:list-item --></p>
<p><!-- wp:list-item --></p>
<li><strong>Formatting Buttons (Underline, Justify, etc.):</strong> Some less commonly used formatting options are now often found within the "More rich text tools" dropdown (the down arrow) in the Block Toolbar of text-based blocks. Justification, in particular, might depend on your theme's support.</li>
<p><!-- /wp:list-item --></p>
<p><!-- wp:list-item --></p>
<li><strong>Meta Boxes:</strong> These haven't disappeared entirely! Meta boxes for plugins and custom fields are typically found below the main content area in the Block Editor interface. You can also move them to the sidebar by going to the three vertical dots in the top right corner of the screen, selecting "Preferences," then "Panels," and checking the "Meta boxes" option.</li>

<p>Available menu spots include:</p>
<ul>

<li>Left Utility and Right Utility are the 2 menu areas on the top fixed bar (if you have that theme) or utility is the top, unfixed menu.</li>
<li>Flyout / Mobile are your mobile menus on the different themes.</li>
<li>Footer is your footer menu, but you can use the footer widget areas to place multiple styles of menus if you want something more intricate.</li>
</ul>

<li>Scroll to the bottom of the menu editor window.</li>
<li>In the section titled Theme locations, click the checkbox for the location where you want your menu to appear.</li>
<li>Click Save menu once you’ve made your selection.</li>
</ol>
<p>If you want to place the menu somewhere other than the defined spots on your site, you will need to add your new menu via the Custom Menu widget in the Appearance Widgets Screen. Some people use this to add multiple menus to the footer widget areas.</p>

<h3 class="widget-title">Creating Multi-level Menus</h3>
<div class="textwidget">
<p>When planning the structure of your menu, it helps to think of each menu item as a heading in a formal report document. In a formal report, main section headings (Level 1 headings) are the nearest to the left of the page; sub-section headings (Level 2 headings) are indented slightly further to the right; any other subordinate headings (Level 3, 4, etc) within the same section are indented even further to the right.</p>
<p>The WordPress menu editor allows you to create multi-level menus using a simple ‘drag and drop’ interface. Drag menu items up or down to change their order of appearance in the menu. Drag menu items left or right in order to create sub-levels within your menu.</p>
<p>To make one menu item a subordinate of another, you need to position the ‘child’ underneath its ‘parent’ and then drag it slightly to the right.</p>
<ol>
<li>Position the mouse over the ‘child’ menu item.</li>
<li>Whilst holding the left mouse button, drag it to the right.</li>
<li>Release the mouse button.</li>
<li>Repeat these steps for each sub-menu item.</li>
<li>Click the Save Menu button in the Menu Editor to save your changes.</li>

<p>Social media icons can display across all of your website content allowing visitors to share stories or posts they engage with to their favorite social network or via email links. However you may not want this feature available on some content.</p>
<p>The following is a brief walkthrough on how to manage where these icons appear via your admin dashboard.</p>
<p>Firstly the social media share icons appear in two main places: Pages and Posts.</p>
<h3>Pages</h3>
<p>Pages are most often used for evergreen content such as contact and about us pages.</p>
<p>While logged into your website, simply visit the page you would like to manage the social icons and click the “Edit Page” link in the admin toolbar at the top of the browser window.</p>
<figure class="wp-block-image size-large is-style-default"><a  href="https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/AddToAny-Contact-Cropped.png" data-rel="lightbox-gallery-0" data-rl_title="" data-rl_caption="" title=""><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-30378 size-large" src="https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/AddToAny-Contact-Cropped-720x411.png" sizes="(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px" srcset="https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/AddToAny-Contact-Cropped-720x411.png 720w, https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/AddToAny-Contact-Cropped-768x439.png 768w, https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/AddToAny-Contact-Cropped.png 844w" alt="" width="720" height="411" /></a></figure>
<p>This will take you to the Edit Page dashboard where you would make other normal content changes. Look for the “AddToAny” option and here you can toggle the appearance of the ‘Show sharing buttons’ to show or hide the icons on this specific page only.</p>
<p>Click update and your choice will be saved.</p>

<h3>Posts</h3>
<p>The other place these icons appear is on individual posts or stories. The process is similar, but we’ll look at another way of finding the particular article where you might like to hide or show the social icons.</p>
<p>From your main dashboard on the left menu listing go to Articles &gt; All Articles. This will display a list of all article content on your website. This list can be filtered or searched in various ways with the dropdown selections above the list or the search field.</p>
<p><a  href="https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/Dashboard-Cropped.png" data-rel="lightbox-gallery-0" data-rl_title="" data-rl_caption="" title=""><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-30380 size-medium" src="https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/Dashboard-Cropped-300x200.png" alt="" width="300" height="200" srcset="https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/Dashboard-Cropped-300x200.png 300w, https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/Dashboard-Cropped-150x100.png 150w, https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/Dashboard-Cropped-200x133.png 200w, https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/Dashboard-Cropped-250x166.png 250w, https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/Dashboard-Cropped-272x182.png 272w" sizes="(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px" /></a></p>
<figure class="wp-block-image size-large is-style-default"><a  href="https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/AddToAny-Search-Result-Cropped.png" data-rel="lightbox-gallery-0" data-rl_title="" data-rl_caption="" title=""><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-30382 size-large" src="https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/AddToAny-Search-Result-Cropped-720x316.png" sizes="(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px" srcset="https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/AddToAny-Search-Result-Cropped-720x316.png 720w, https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/AddToAny-Search-Result-Cropped-768x337.png 768w, https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/AddToAny-Search-Result-Cropped-960x422.png 960w, https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/AddToAny-Search-Result-Cropped.png 1259w" alt="" width="720" height="316" /></a></figure>
<p>Once you find the story you want to edit, click on its headline and you will be taken to the Edit Article dashboard (which will look very similar to the Edit Page dashboard).</p>

<ul>
<li>Click ADD PRODUCT and select WHCC Prints to chose which products you would like to make available for purchase. If you would like to offer Digital Downloads, chose that option. You can always select ADD PRODUCT again to add both into the same pricelist if desired.</li>
</ul>
<p><a  href="https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/Pricelist-Add-Product.png" data-rel="lightbox-gallery-0" data-rl_title="" data-rl_caption="" title=""><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-31197" src="https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/Pricelist-Add-Product.png" alt="" width="630" height="382" srcset="https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/Pricelist-Add-Product.png 630w, https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/Pricelist-Add-Product-150x90.png 150w" sizes="(max-width: 630px) 100vw, 630px" /></a></p>
<ul>
<li>When choosing WHCC Prints, click on the checkbox under the ADD column to include those products (some are selected by default). Note you can check the box just to the right of the ADD column header to select or deselect the entire category.</li>
<li>After all the desired products have been selected click ADD PRODUCT to return to the Pricelist page.</li>
</ul>
<p><a  href="https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/WHCC-Prints.png" data-rel="lightbox-gallery-0" data-rl_title="" data-rl_caption="" title=""><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-large wp-image-31198" src="https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/WHCC-Prints-720x433.png" alt="" width="720" height="433" srcset="https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/WHCC-Prints-720x433.png 720w, https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/WHCC-Prints-768x462.png 768w, https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/WHCC-Prints-150x90.png 150w, https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/WHCC-Prints-960x577.png 960w, https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/WHCC-Prints.png 1000w" sizes="(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px" /></a></p>
<ul>
<li>When choosing Digital Downloads you will actually be adding a product for each size of photo you would like to offer. For example we can add four sizes: Small, Medium, Large, and FULL resolutions.</li>
<li>Let's first add the Small product, specify its price and the longest image dimension.</li>
</ul>
<p><a  href="https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/Pricelist-Digital-Downloads.png" data-rel="lightbox-gallery-0" data-rl_title="" data-rl_caption="" title=""><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-31200" src="https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/Pricelist-Digital-Downloads.png" alt="" width="630" height="381" srcset="https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/Pricelist-Digital-Downloads.png 630w, https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/Pricelist-Digital-Downloads-150x90.png 150w" sizes="(max-width: 630px) 100vw, 630px" /></a></p>
<ul>
<li>You will then repeat these steps to add the remaining size offerings.</li>
<li>If you want to offer a product for free or a free option, all you need to do is set the price to 0.00. You may want to also specify in the item description that it is free.</li>
<li>Once the pricelist is complete click SAVE.</li>
</ul>
<p><a  href="https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/Pricelists-Products-Added.png" data-rel="lightbox-gallery-0" data-rl_title="" data-rl_caption="" title=""><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-large wp-image-31201" src="https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/Pricelists-Products-Added-720x897.png" alt="" width="720" height="897" srcset="https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/Pricelists-Products-Added-720x897.png 720w, https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/Pricelists-Products-Added-768x957.png 768w, https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/Pricelists-Products-Added-960x1196.png 960w, https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/Pricelists-Products-Added.png 1075w" sizes="(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px" /></a></p>
<ul>
<li>If you have a license agreement you'd like your customers to be aware of while they're shopping and browsing your images, click the option to 'Display link to license terms' next to the image they are viewing. There will be a drop-down list of all published pages where you can select the page where your license terms are published.</li>

By default each image/product in the gallery will have the selection 'Use gallery's pricelist'. You can adjust this to be set to 'None (not for sale)' or attach a different pricelist. This is helpful for galleries that have a mix of products that have been sold or are not for sale, or images that are available at different sizes.</li>

Historically, NextGEN Pro has offered PayPal Standard and PayPal Express Checkout. While these are still offered, PayPal is slowly phasing them out, and replacing them with PayPal Checkout.</p>
<h3><strong>Setting up PayPal Checkout for Payments</strong>:</h3>
<ul>
<li>Navigate to Ecommerce &gt; Ecommerce Options &gt; Payment Gateway.</li>
<li>Enable PayPal Checkout by clicking “Yes”.</li>
<li>You’ll need a PayPal business account and a unique REST API key which consists of a Client ID and Client Secret.</li>
<li>Retrieve these from the PayPal Developer Dashboard (<a href="https://developer.paypal.com/" target="_new">https://developer.paypal.com/</a>) under REST APIs in My Apps &amp; Credentials.</li>
<li>Paste your live Client ID and Client Secret into the associated fields in NextGEN Pro and save your settings. You can also opt to use the PayPal Sandbox for testing<span class="" data-state="closed"><a class="px-0.5 text-green-600 !no-underline" href="https://www.imagely.com/docs/how-to-setup-paypal-checkout/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">1</a></span>.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Setting up Stripe for Payments:</h3>
<p>For Stripe, you’ll need a public key and a private key. More information on Stripe setup can be found on their website, including signup instructions. You can grab your Stripe API Key from there. Stripe does not provide a sandbox option within the settings. If you want to test the checkout process, you will need to set this up manually following the instructions on their website.</p>
<h3>Using the Testing Gateway:</h3>
<p>When the Testing Gateway is enabled, it simulates the process of a payment gateway but doesn't actually charge any money. This means you can go through the entire process of adding items to the cart, filling out customer information, and completing the checkout process without any real transactions taking place.</p>
<p>It's important to note that the Testing Gateway should be disabled when your site is live and you're ready to start accepting real payments. It's only meant for testing purposes and not for actual eCommerce transactions.</p>

<div class="textwidget">
<p>The <a href="https://our-hometown.com/nextgen-gallery-plugin-now-available-on-our-platform/"><strong>NextGEN Gallery</strong></a> plugin allows users to upload a collection of photos in the back end of the website and organize them into a gallery. The big advantage to <strong>NextGEN Gallery</strong>, aside from the general ease of use, is the ability to display the <em>same </em>gallery of photos in <em>multiple</em> locations and in <em>different</em> layouts each time.</p>
<p>I’ll demonstrate what I mean below. First, let’s create our first gallery using <strong>NextGEN Gallery</strong>.</p>
<h2><strong>1. Create the Gallery</strong></h2>
<p>You can actually create a <strong>NextGEN Gallery</strong> from any page or article editor, but for the sake of this tutorial, we’re going to keep it as simple as possible and start from the dashboard.</p>
<p>Find the <strong>NextGEN Gallery</strong> item on the dashboard menu and navigate to the <strong>Add Gallery/Images</strong> page.</p>
<figure class="wp-block-image size-large is-style-default"><a title="" href="https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/new-gallery.png" data-rel="lightbox-gallery-bGlnaHRib3gtZ2FsbGVyeS0w" data-rl_title="" data-rl_caption="" data-rl_title="" data-rl_caption=""><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="wp-image-29909 aligncenter" src="https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/new-gallery-720x396.png" sizes="(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px" srcset="https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/new-gallery-720x396.png 720w, https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/new-gallery-768x423.png 768w, https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/new-gallery-960x528.png 960w, https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/new-gallery.png 1256w" alt="" width="720" height="396" /></a></figure>
<p>You’ll be presented with a page asking you to select which gallery you want to upload photos to. Since we have not yet created a gallery, the only option for us is to “Create a new gallery.”</p>
<p>I’ve entered the name “New Gallery” and clicked <strong>Create and Select</strong>.</p>
<p>Once the “New Gallery” is selected, click the “Browse” button to upload some photos from your computer and add them to the gallery. The progress is visible as each photo is uploaded and saved to the gallery.</p>
<p>Once your photos have finished uploading, you can navigate to <strong>NextGEN Gallery -&gt; Manage Galleries</strong> to edit the gallery you’ve created or any of the photos included within.</p>
<figure class="wp-block-image size-large is-style-default"><a title="" href="https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/pet-photos.jpg" data-rel="lightbox-gallery-bGlnaHRib3gtZ2FsbGVyeS0w" data-rl_title="" data-rl_caption="" data-rl_title="" data-rl_caption=""><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="wp-image-29910 aligncenter" src="https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/pet-photos-720x282.png" sizes="(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px" srcset="https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/pet-photos-720x282.png 720w, https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/pet-photos-768x301.png 768w, https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/pet-photos-960x376.png 960w, https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/pet-photos.jpg 1252w" alt="" width="720" height="282" /></a></figure>
<p>You’ll notice that we did not at any point select a “template” or adjust any settings that determine how this photo gallery will appear on a page or within an article. That is because, unlike with MaxGallery, a single photo gallery in <strong>NextGEN Gallery</strong> can be displayed in various places each with a different template.</p>
<h2><strong>2. Placing a Gallery</strong></h2>
<p>In this example, I’m going to place our first gallery inside of an <strong>Article</strong> named “Pet Photos of the Week.” We’ll assume this publication is highlighting some photos of their readers pets in the new article.</p>
<p>If using the classic editor, you’ll see the option to <strong>Add Gallery</strong> just above the toolbar. If using the block editor, you’ll want to add a new <strong>Block</strong> and search for the <strong>NextGEN Gallery</strong> block.</p>
<p>Once you’ve added the block and clicked <strong>Add Gallery</strong>, you’ll see a page asking you to select which Gallery (or galleries) you want to add to the page. Below that, there are a number of gallery templates available to choose from that determine how your gallery will display.</p>
<figure class="wp-block-image size-large is-style-default"><a title="" href="https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/insert-gallery.jpg" data-rel="lightbox-gallery-bGlnaHRib3gtZ2FsbGVyeS0w" data-rl_title="" data-rl_caption="" data-rl_title="" data-rl_caption=""><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="wp-image-29911 aligncenter" src="https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/insert-gallery-720x340.png" sizes="(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px" srcset="https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/insert-gallery-720x340.png 720w, https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/insert-gallery-768x363.png 768w, https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/insert-gallery-1536x726.png 1536w, https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/insert-gallery-960x454.png 960w, https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/insert-gallery.jpg 1769w" alt="" width="720" height="340" /></a></figure>
<p>These templates include basic options for thumbnails, slideshows &amp; image browsers, as well as the paid <strong>Pro</strong> versions of these templates. All are available to OHT customers.</p>
<p>Once you’ve selected a template, you can click the <strong>Customize Display Settings</strong> tab to further adjust the gallery settings.</p>
<figure class="wp-block-image size-large is-style-default"><a title="" href="https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/customize.png" data-rel="lightbox-gallery-bGlnaHRib3gtZ2FsbGVyeS0w" data-rl_title="" data-rl_caption="" data-rl_title="" data-rl_caption=""><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="wp-image-29912 aligncenter" src="https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/customize-720x350.png" sizes="(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px" srcset="https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/customize-720x350.png 720w, https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/customize-768x373.png 768w, https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/customize-960x466.png 960w, https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/customize.png 1486w" alt="" width="720" height="350" /></a></figure>
<p>I went with the simple <strong>Pro Thumbnail Grid</strong> to create the gallery below.</p>
<figure class="wp-block-image size-large is-style-default"><a title="" href="https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/gallery.jpg" data-rel="lightbox-gallery-bGlnaHRib3gtZ2FsbGVyeS0w" data-rl_title="" data-rl_caption="" data-rl_title="" data-rl_caption=""><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="wp-image-29913 aligncenter" src="https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/gallery-720x334.png" sizes="(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px" srcset="https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/gallery-720x334.png 720w, https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/gallery-768x356.png 768w, https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/gallery.jpg 808w" alt="" width="720" height="334" /></a></figure>
<hr class="wp-block-separator" />
<p>That is all there is to it! If I wanted to display the same set of photos in a different format somewhere else on the website, I would follow the same process: click <strong>Add Gallery</strong> from the NextGEN block/toolbar and select your existing Gallery of Photos, then choose the format you want to display it!</p>
<h2><strong>3. Setting a Featured Image</strong></h2>
<p>One final thing that <strong>NextGEN Gallery</strong> makes easier than ever is setting a featured image for the article or page to which your gallery is being embedded. In the past, if you embedded a gallery inside of an article, you would need to manually set the <strong>Featured Image</strong> for that article by separately uploading one of the photos from the gallery as the featured image.</p>
<div class="wp-block-image is-style-default">
<figure class="aligncenter"><a title="" href="https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/featured.png" data-rel="lightbox-gallery-bGlnaHRib3gtZ2FsbGVyeS0w" data-rl_title="" data-rl_caption="" data-rl_title="" data-rl_caption=""><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="wp-image-29914 aligncenter" src="https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/featured.png" alt="" width="292" height="132" /></a></figure>
</div>
<p><strong>NextGEN Gallery</strong> makes this quick and easy by providing a button right below the existing “Set Featured Image” option that lets you select one of the photos inside the gallery as the article’s featured image, saving you the time of hunting it down and uploading a second copy of the image.</p>
</div></div>

<p>Before setting up a <b>Promotional Newsletter Insert</b>, we need to create a <b>Coupon Code </b>to be shared with the newsletter recipients for use when purchasing a subscription on your website.</p>
<p>From your WordPress Dashboard, navigate to <b>Memberpress </b>then<b> Coupons</b>.</p>
<p>This will take you to the listing of any coupons already present including columns showing the discount, discount mode, start and end dates, etc. To create a new coupon click the <b>Add New Button</b>.</p>
<p><a  href="https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/Coupons-List-CROP.png" data-rel="lightbox-gallery-0" data-rl_title="" data-rl_caption="" title=""><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-30974 size-large" src="https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/Coupons-List-CROP-720x260.png" alt="" width="720" height="260" srcset="https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/Coupons-List-CROP-720x260.png 720w, https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/Coupons-List-CROP-768x277.png 768w, https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/Coupons-List-CROP-1536x555.png 1536w, https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/Coupons-List-CROP-960x347.png 960w, https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/Coupons-List-CROP.png 1728w" sizes="(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px" /></a></p>
<p>By default, the new coupon code will be a randomly generated string of numbers and letters, but you can edit the code to whatever you want — just don’t include any spaces or special characters. Most customers prefer to use something easy for their readers to remember. This is the code that you will eventually deliver to your readers via email newsletters, social media, print, or however you choose to advertise your promotional discount.</p>
<p>In this example the customer is offering 15% off the first payment for monthly memberships and the first month free for annual memberships.</p>
<p><a  href="https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/MSM-15-Off-Coupon.png" data-rel="lightbox-gallery-0" data-rl_title="" data-rl_caption="" title=""><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-large wp-image-30975" src="https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/MSM-15-Off-Coupon-720x540.png" alt="" width="720" height="540" srcset="https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/MSM-15-Off-Coupon-720x540.png 720w, https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/MSM-15-Off-Coupon-200x150.png 200w, https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/MSM-15-Off-Coupon-768x576.png 768w, https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/MSM-15-Off-Coupon-1536x1152.png 1536w, https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/MSM-15-Off-Coupon-960x720.png 960w, https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/MSM-15-Off-Coupon.png 1728w" sizes="(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px" /></a></p>
<p>Under the <b>Coupon Options</b>, there are a few settings that need to be configured to determine how your coupon should work.</p>
<p><b> Discount:</b> You can enter either a dollar amount or a percentage to be discounted when using the standard mode as described below. The discount for the other modes is specified below the mode selection menu.</p>
<p><b> Discount Mode:</b> There are three discount modes:</p>
<ul>
<li aria-level="1"><b>Standard</b> – A standard discount of the amount/percentage entered above. If applied to a recurring subscription, this discount will apply to <i>each payment made</i> towards that subscription.</li>
<li aria-level="1"><b>First Payment Only </b>– Discounts the amount/percentage entered below, but <i>only</i> on the <i>First Payment</i> of a recurring, auto-renewing membership.</li>
<li aria-level="1"><b>Trial Period Override</b> – Discounts the amount/percentage entered below, but <i>only</i> on the <i>Trial Period </i>of a recurring, auto-renewing membership. <i>(Note the membership does not need to have a trial period in order for this to work. The benefit of using this setting over the First Payment Only option is that you can set the amount of days that the trial period should last, whereas the first payment can only be for the normal duration of the automatically recurring subscription.)</i></li>
</ul>
<p><b>Usage Count:</b> You can enter a maximum number of uses if you want to limit this offer to the first “X” amount of people to use the code, or if you have a code that you only want to give to one specific customer.</p>
<p>You can allow customers to use the coupon code on <b>Subscription Upgrades or Downgrades</b> by ticking that checkbox.</p>
<p>If you wish you can specify a start date for the coupon by ticking the <b>Schedule Coupon Start</b> checkbox and entering the desired date.</p>
<p>You can similarly schedule a coupon to <b>Expire</b> on a selected date at <i>midnight</i> after which it will no longer be valid.</p>
<p>Finally, <b>Select Which Memberships to Apply the Coupon</b> to.</p>

<p>Enter the title of your Insert, and edit your promotional message as desired in the textbox — just be sure <b>NOT TO DELETE</b> the “promo-coupon” text placeholder, as that serves as the variable where the coupon code you select later will display.</p>
<p><a  href="https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/Code-Placeholder.png" data-rel="lightbox-gallery-0" data-rl_title="" data-rl_caption="" title=""><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-large wp-image-30994" src="https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/Code-Placeholder-720x223.png" alt="" width="720" height="223" srcset="https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/Code-Placeholder-720x223.png 720w, https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/Code-Placeholder-768x238.png 768w, https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/Code-Placeholder-1536x476.png 1536w, https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/Code-Placeholder-960x297.png 960w, https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/Code-Placeholder.png 1728w" sizes="(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px" /></a></p>
<p>The insert message can contain any number of elements such as photos or graphics in addition to the text. Also note in this instance that the publisher is including TWO codes and as such is not using the coupon placeholder instead placing them manually.</p>
<p><a  href="https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/Edit-Promotion-TOP.png" data-rel="lightbox-gallery-0" data-rl_title="" data-rl_caption="" title=""><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-large wp-image-30978" src="https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/Edit-Promotion-TOP-720x662.png" alt="" width="720" height="662" srcset="https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/Edit-Promotion-TOP-720x662.png 720w, https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/Edit-Promotion-TOP-768x706.png 768w, https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/Edit-Promotion-TOP-1536x1412.png 1536w, https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/Edit-Promotion-TOP-960x882.png 960w, https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/Edit-Promotion-TOP.png 1728w" sizes="(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px" /></a></p>
<p>Once your message is complete, scroll down to the <b>Promotion Options</b> beneath the main textbox.</p>
<p><a  href="https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/Promotions-Options.png" data-rel="lightbox-gallery-0" data-rl_title="" data-rl_caption="" title=""><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-large wp-image-30979" src="https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/Promotions-Options-720x422.png" alt="" width="720" height="422" srcset="https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/Promotions-Options-720x422.png 720w, https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/Promotions-Options-768x451.png 768w, https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/Promotions-Options-960x563.png 960w, https://our-hometown.com/wp-content/uploads/Promotions-Options.png 1147w" sizes="(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px" /></a></p>
<p>Here you can choose the placement of your <b>Insert</b> in relation to your regular newsletter: Above or Below. Above would display the promo at the top of the newsletter, while Below would display it at the bottom of the message.</p>
<p>Next, select the <b>Frequency</b>. The Frequency determines how often the promo should be included in your newsletters: Send with each newsletter, Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, or Annually.</p>
<p>If you choose Send with each newsletter, every newsletter will include the insert until the promotion ends. If you choose Weekly, the insert will be included with the newsletter once per week until the promotion ends, and so on.</p>
<p>Next, you can enter a <b>Start Date</b> and End Date, which will determine the period that the system will attach the <b>Insert</b> to outgoing Newsletters. This allows you to schedule promotions in advance, in case you had one promotion planned for summer and another one for the fall.</p>
<p>You will need to specify which groups of members the promotion should apply to: <b>Non-Paying Newsletter Subscribers</b>, <b>Expired MemberPress Subscribers</b>, or <b>Both</b>.</p>
<p>The differences here are important. A non-paying newsletter subscriber could just be any visitor who has subscribed to your newsletter, while expired MemberPress Subscribers are former subscribers whose subscriptions have expired and were not renewed.</p>
<p>If you were running a campaign aimed only at past subscribers, you wouldn’t want to include non-paying newsletter subscribers. However, a generic promotion aimed at any non-subscribers would make sense to be delivered to both groups.</p>
<p>Finally select the <b>Coupon Code</b> that should be included with this promotion. The dropdown list will contain all the coupons created in MemberPress, so choose the appropriate one for the new insert.</p>
<p>Once you are satisfied with the insert click the Publish button to finish creating your insert. Note also that the Publish panel has similar status and visibility options as articles, if the need arises.</p>
<p>When your Promotional Insert is <b>Published</b>, it will begin attaching itself to e-mails automatically on the <b>Start Date</b> you’ve entered.</p>

<p>The <strong>Google Docs Add-On</strong> allows you to connect your Google Docs account with your Our-Hometown website so that you can easily publish content directly from your Google Docs workspace to the web without having to switch between multiple platforms or copy and paste content.</p>
<p>For each Google Doc activate the Our-Hometown add-on and enter your website’s credentials. This will create a direct link between your document and your site with only a single login.</p>
<p>A <em>new panel</em> is now available replicating the relevant options from the WordPress article creation interface. Bylines, subheadings, scheduling, categories etc. can all be set here just as on your website, although images will need to be uploaded through the new panel.</p>
<p>Once you publish from the Google Doc, the article will then appear on your website as if created directly there, and most importantly, the link between the two is <em>continuously</em> active. This allows you to revise and update the article content from the document without ever having to login to your website.</p>
<p>Once your articles are published to the web, you can take advantage of our <strong><a href="https://our-hometown.com/reverse-publishing/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Reverse Publishing Suite</a> </strong>to easily export all of those articles for placement in your InDesign layout for the print edition.</p>
